Procedure – Shipment of a soil sample
The soil sample is a crucial to your application to get a cuvée labelled “VOLCANIC ORIGIN”, as we use the under-vine soil sample to determine whether the grapes used to make the cuvée submitted for labelling are effectively on a volcanic terroir.
If you do not already have a soil test report issued by an accredited soil testing laboratory and proving evidence of established volcanic rock, then we have to ask you to send a soil sample to our Vetagro Sup partner lab.
This is how to proceed:
- Out in the vineyard plot used to make the label-eligible cuvée, use an earth augur to hand-take a sample 30cm deep into the soil (Horizon 1).
- Take 4 soil samples per plot.
- Each sample should be the equivalent of roughly a fistful (250g), i.e. 4 × 250g = max 1kg per plot.
- Send the collected sample to this address:
VEGEPOLYS VALLEY
5 rue Emile Duclaux
63 360 Saint Beauzire
As a reminder, shipping costs for sending the sample are borne by the operator (applicant filing for use of the label), and the soil test costs are invoiced at the cuvée declaration step.
To ship with the soil sample package:
- Name of the stucture
- Adress
- E-mail contact
- Name of the cuvée
- Plot references
